Mastering Your Financial Destiny – Part 1

By August 13, 2014 Business, Entrepreneur
beliefs to results

Lets face it, true wealth is not just about how much money you have in the bank, how many assets you have or how many toys you have to play with.  Most people would agree that it includes enjoying a rich and full life both internally and externally.

My goal here is to show you how financial success and self improvement go hand in hand with one another when it comes to mastering your financial destiny. I’ll be sharing the steps that I have used to create a 7-figure a year web marketing business from scratch while creating multiple stream of recurring income that fill up my bank account 24 hours a day whether I am awake, asleep or sipping a Mai Tai on the beach.

The great news is that the skills required to become successful at anything are essentially the same skills used to develop character, ability and awareness.  As these skills develop within you your life automatically transforms around you leading to you live more of your true potential and being a more fulfilled human being.

So whether it’s mastering your financial destiny, your people skills, time management, health and fitness or any area of your life it is all accomplished by the same method, self-mastery. The is no chance in hell that you will master your finances if you can’t master those things that are keeping you poor.

Self-mastery is nothing mysterious. It is the ability to know and understand yourself at the deepest level and to make the changes, both internal and external, that are necessary for growth and success. It works on the premise that with training we can grow our lives. .

At the core of self-mastery it is the choices you make and the actions you take that ultimately determines your altitude in life. Your happiness, health, wealth and fulfillment all rides on how well you get to know yourself and break free from those parts of you that hold you back from the success you deserve.

Now that you have a better understanding of how self -mastery impacts your financial destiny and your life in general, let’s look at some of the simple steps you can take to master yourself, and your finances once and for all.

While some of these things may sound painfully obvious or even counter-intuitive, keep in mind that if you haven’t already mastered your financial destiny (or yourself) then you need to start doing things differently if you expect to get different results.

I’m going to start using the word “rich” here which some people have an issue with when it comes to money because of the beliefs they have about what “rich” means. My definition of rich includes both being internally rich in love, happiness and peace, and having as much wealth as you desire on the outside to support your vision of life.

Shattering Limiting Beliefs

In order to become rich you must feel you deserve to be rich. If you have low self-esteem, or lack of self-worth as it is also called, then you must first work on your beliefs about who you are and what you deserve to have, be and do, with your life. The less self esteem you have, the more debt you create and we all know how much of a vicious cycle debt can be.

It’s a fact that our core beliefs have a huge influence on not only our decisions and actions but also the habits we form that either support your success, or keep you stuck where you are. This is true for anything you want to improve from creating a full-time income online, to losing weight, or quitting something you know is not good for you.

Ask yourself this question, “What are my limiting or negative beliefs around money?”

Write down your answers.

Typically, they will be a reflection of what you learned about money growing up from the people, society, and environment around you.

Some of those beliefs may look like:

“Money is the root of all evil.”

“Money is not that important.”

“Money is meant to be spent.”

“I’m no good with money.”

“I hate money.”

“There’s not enough money to go around.”

“You have to work too hard to get wealthy.”

“Rich people are all bastards.”

Before you can change any area of your life you need to identify what limiting or negative beliefs may be holding you back on a sub-conscious level.

Another way to check on your beliefs is to look at your current financial circumstances. How much money do you make now and what is an hour of your time worth? This will tell you exactly what you current beliefs are creating in your life.

For example, if you get paid (or pay yourself) $30 per hour and you want to be worth more than that then you need to set a new belief. The new belief could be that you want to be making $300 per hour. The start working on your mindset around building this new belief.

The way to do this is to write down your new belief as if it already exists because your brain is a computer that will believe anything you put into it often enough. Make sure you read that sentence again because this is the secret to re-programming your brain for success at anything.

Here’s how it would look written down, “I am so happy to be making $300 an hour!” Then repeat this to yourself for 5 minutes every morning and every night as you fall asleep. Of course, you’ll still need to take action to make this happen but the secret is that every step you take toward that goal starts to turn your belief into reality.

By starting with your mind you are focusing on an intention to become a $300 per hour person and as long as you never quit on this intention, success is inevitable.

As you can see, the good news is that it is quite easy to build new and empowering beliefs that will super-charge your mind and body with all the fuel it needs to excel… and the action step is to master your mind and thoughts. While you can’t always control the thoughts that happen, you can control the ones that you focus on and give energy to.

To help accelerate your new beliefs here’s a simple exercise to help you move forward.

Step 1 – write down two new habits you want to include in your daily rituals.

These habits must be aligned with the financial destiny you have in mind for yourself. If that means getting up 1 hour earlier each so you can be more productive or perhaps even joining a gym and exercising 3 to 4 times a week, to help improve your fitness and energy levels, then start there. Or, it may be that you need to learn some new skills that will increase your knowledge  which will make you a more valuable person in your chosen field.

Step 2 – apply your new habits for 30 days straight. If you miss a day – then start again at zero. Why 30 days? Because after 30 days your new success habit will be an automatic part of your daily rituals. Most importantly start small. Take baby steps at first by developing 2 new habits that you can master very fast. Then, step-by-step start adding in more habits that will help you master your money and your life.

Learn To Manage Your Energy

Managing ENERGY, not time is the key to high performance, health, wealth and happiness. Now, while this may sound a little strange to some of you if you think about it, it’s really common sense. We live in a time where there are so many demands on our time and energy that being scattered and pulled in a million different directions is a way of life for the majority of us.

The outcome being that we are racing through our lives without pausing to consider who we really want to be or where we really want to go.

Some try to fix this by managing their time more effectively but at the end of the day if your life is out of balance and demand on your time exceeds your capacity, which can include all those things that you ‘have-to’ fit in outside your work hours, then managing time effectively is no guarantee that you will bring sufficient energy to whatever it is you are doing.

The reality is that energy, not time, is the fundamental currency of high performance… and high performance is what gets you to personal and financial success. To be fully energized you must be physically energized, emotionally connected, mentally focused and spiritually aligned with a purpose beyond your immediate self-interest.

When these things line up you wake up eager to do your work in the morning and more than equipped to handle any challenges that might come your way during the day. At the end of the day your have more than enough energy and vitality to to spend time with loved ones or do whatever it is you want to do.

If there were just one thing that you could do right now in your life to accelerate your path of success financially, it would be to get started immediately on harnessing full engagement of all levels of energy in your body, mind and spirit. Then your productivity and performance will explode with ease, while your quality of life soars to new heights of satisfaction and fulfillment.

Clear Out Clutter

Clutter, be it in your room, home, shed, car,on your desk or anywhere at all that you inhabit is a reflection that your mind is not clear and focused. The only purpose clutter serves is to keep you feeling overwhelmed and in a state of chaos or borderline anxiety because you always feel that you never have enough space top even breathe properly.

The first thing to do is take back control of your environment and clear out all the clutter from it. That includes your wallet or purse, cupboards, rooms, garages, car, fridge, bathroom and anywhere you live that is cluttered.

You can either give away those things that you rarely or ever use and are in good condition but anything else can be thrown out, especially if it’s things that you haven’t even looked at over the past 12 months. This may feel uncomfortable for you at first but once you’ve finished you’ll have such a sense of freedom and clarity that you will be amazed.

When you take control of clutter you are left with the power to act and create. By getting rid of it in your life it creates more space for new people, money and things that you really value to come into your life.

The Real Value of Money

It’s important to put money in it’s proper place as you move towards your financial destiny. Money has no real value except that which it is given by the law of supply, demand, and any other man-made circumstances that influence the value of currency. At the end of the day it is really just part of an energy exchange system that we all agree to use for now.

There is a pecking order when it comes to how money should be valued and it goes like this – “People first, then money, then things”.

Make sure you read this carefully because this is one of the fastest paths to becoming rich that I can think of. By valuing people more than money, and money more than what it can buy (things), then it will start to grow very quickly in your life and in your bank balance. When you truly value people first, they will know it.

Your customers will know that you value them by the way you interact with them, the level of support you give and the amount of care that goes into your products or service you provide. By helping others to feel valued and by taking verty good care of your relationships both personally and professionally you wealth will grow.

The second part is to value money more than what it can buy. This one may be a bit tricky for some but once you master this step, money will come thicker and faster. Taking pleasure in money and watching it grow is the fastest way to wipe out any limiting or negative beliefs you may have clung to from the past in no time flat.

Some of the practical ways you can speed this up is to:

  • Only buy what you can afford
  • Ask yourself’ “do I really need this” before you spend money on anything
  • Make every dollar you spend count
  • Never buy when emotional as this creates reflex spending. Refuse to spend money just to make yourself feel better in the short term. Instead, do something you enjoy that doesn’t cost money.
  • Get out of debt as soon as you can

When you really value money over things you will find a deep sense of calmness will appear in your life.

Grow Your Mind Power

There’s an old saying that if you keep doing things the same way you’ll keep getting the same result. Now I’m sure you’ve heard this before but sometimes it’s good to hear things again because it actually might sink in.

Here’s the bottom line… if you are not where you want to be mentally, physically, financially, emotionally, or spiritually in your life right now it’s because  some part of you refuses to change. In other words, you are comfortable where you are at even if it’s uncomfortable for you.

This may sound a tad crazy but unfortunately, it is the truth.

The only thing that is going to give you what you want in the future is you. But, not the you that is reading now, it’s the person you become as a result of thinking and acting in different ways than you have before. This is what will create a bigger, better and brighter future for you.

The only difference between who you are now and who you need to become to live the life of your dreams is your willingness to get out of your comfort zone and step toward self-mastery.

It means to stop making excuses why you aren’t already there and start making the right decisions, and taking the right actions, to make things happen in your life instead of waiting for them to come to you.

If that means you need to get a coach or a mentor that you respect and trust and who has done the things that you want to do, then do it. They’ll kick you up the butt when you need it, while helping you to stay focused and keep on track as you navigate the murky waters of breaking free from your self-limiting doubts, fears, beliefs and habits. If they don’t – sack them and find someone else.

Yes, you can do it on your own but you have to be ruthlessly accountable and in all honesty I haven’t met many people who can do this.

It’s seems to be much easier for most people to just give up and go back to what they are used to. Others simply make excuses why they need to put things off until later, which becomes never for most.  While other people go from one shiny object to the next never really mastering anything and cluttering up their computers with stuff they’ll never need or use.

It really depends on how much time you want to take to achieve your financial destiny. Most will never get there. That’s just plain old statistics. There’s a reason why 95% of the wealth of the world is held by 5% of the population and that’s because they have the mindset and the habits to sustain it.

By following the above steps you can immediately start to step into your self-mastery and accelerate your path to financial freedom.

It’s there for the taking by anyone who decides that it’s for them. I look at money like this… it’s all about cash flow. Cash flows into your life – and out of it. How much cash flows in and out depends on your beliefs about how much money you deserve to have.

That’s why learning to master the power of your mind is so vital if you want to enjoy a life of financial freedom and all that it brings. It’s not hard work, it just takes doing things differently than you’ve done them before. You can  have an idea today that can bring you a million dollars over the next year.

But if your conditioned behavior is stronger than your passion and commitment to see your idea through to completion no matter what gets in the way, then you’re screwed from the start. At some point, we have to be brutally honest with ourselves and decide that it’s all or nothing.

You can’t dip your toe into the water of self-mastery. You either have it, or you don’t. Once you have it, the world becomes your playground. Just asked those who are living their lives with power and purpose and getting paid for it. There is no higher bliss or joy to be had in life.

In part two of Mastering Your Financial Destiny we’re going to delve deeper into living your life with power, passion and purpose, and how once you start getting paid for who you are that your profits will soar.
