If there is one area of your life that is worthwhile investigating it’s your mind. It is the part of you that undoubtedly has the most influence over your health, happiness, wealth and productivity, just to name a few.
Left to it’s own device it will continue to create your life around you according to the instructions it has received up until now. Those instructions include all the conditioning that has gone into it around who you are, what you are capable of doing, and most importantly whether you deserve to be happy and fulfilled or not.
The biggest influences on your conditioned mind are your parents, your education system, your social and cultural beliefs and traditions and whatever religious beliefs you adopt. All these things shape your beliefs about who you are and what you can do with your life.
While this is all well and good, the problem arises when you know deep inside you that you are not living your full potential and that there has to be a reason that you money, relationships or career is not where you want it to be.
Everything You Know To Be True Is Just A Belief
The simple truth is that what really controls your destiny is your past conditioning. Think of it more as ‘brainwashing’. Everything that you have ever been taught and more to the point ‘believed’ to be true about yourself becomes etched in your subconscious mind as a belief.
Collectively, all the beliefs you have about yourself and the world around you are known as your ‘belief systems’, or patterns of thinking and behaving. It’s not until you learn to break free from the limiting or negative belief patterns in your subconscious mind, that you’ll truly know what you can be, do, or have in life.
The simple fact is that the fastest and easiest way to change any limiting belief is to change your perceptions, or way of thinking. For example, many years ago it was believed that the world was flat, and that if we sailed over the edge of the ocean we would fall of the world.
Of course, this changed as brave and courageous people challenged this belief and proved it to be wrong. The same goes for our personal beliefs. You may believe that making money has to be hard work and therefor spend 60 to 80 hours a week to make a living.
Yet, there are people who make $100,000 an hour each and every day doing what they love. What’s the difference? Their belief in money and how much they deserve to have and how they deserve to make it.
Perception Is Reality
There is a proven formula for freeing up your mind – ‘change your perception, change your life’. You can start right now if you like. Write down as many limiting perceptions you have of yourself or life in general and then next to each one write down a more unlimited perception to replace it.
Here’s an example; Let’s say your perception of yourself is that you are fat and lazy; Then next to it you would write down that you are fit and motivated. See the difference? Now all you need to do is do one thing each day to reinforce your new perception.
If you do this daily for 30 days, then the new perception will not only start to take shape as part of your reality, it will become a new belief system for life. It gets even easier than this. You can start elimination limiting perceptions by the dozens in seconds.
Here’s how easy it is to do it. Every person you come into contact with whether you know them or not your subconscious beliefs will start to dictate the perception you have of them. Then, you play this out by projecting these beliefs onto the person as if they are true.
However, this is never the case. You will never truly know who someone is unless you are them… and that’s never going to happen. Even people married for 50 years can be total strangers to each other when they ‘think’ they know the other person.
When we create beliefs about others we limit who they can be in our lives. Even your like and dislike of people is determined by perceptions you have of them that trigger judgment or acceptance towards them.
Developing The Beginners Mind-Set
The way you can start to break free from hundreds of limiting perceptions in minutes is to do your best to not have an opinion about anyone that you meet, even if you have known them for decades. While this may sound impossible to do, it actually is very easy.
I have been living this way for 20 years and all it takes is to stop and be present with whoever you are with, listen to them, have no opinion about what they are saying or doing unless they ask you, and then engage them from the present moment without needing to drag the past into it.
I call this relating to people with a ‘beginners’ mind-set. This is the key to freeing your mind from past conditioning while developing relationships based on love and acceptance, instead of judgment and non-acceptance.
By having a beginners mind-set your life will automatically become happier, healthier, more creative, more inspired and highly productive. You will also becoming more loving and tolerant to all life. Then, there is nothing that you can’t be, do or have if you so choose.
When you eyes and ears are open and your mind is calm and not relating to the world around you from the past, then you are free to be who you were born to be.
